radio station vs online music service

When I was working in the media industry about 6years ago, people said radio stations would be gone in couple of years, it's all going to be replaced to online music site, the major one nowadays is Pandora, Grooveshark, etc. People normally listen to radio channel during driving a car, especially when I was in Tokyo, there are not many chance that you drive a car, but take train and walk instead. So people listen to MP3 and online music channel on smartphone more.

Since I've moved to USA, I've been listening to radio stations more during my husband is driving a car.
And I noticed we can't completely replace to online music service which do only pick up songs and play for you, but no excitements which only radio DJ can add between each songs, such as introduce artist's biography, remix songs, fade out to play next song,,,etc. Music is always with us, passed on from person to person. I like it a lot.

We can listen to radio channels not only in the car, but also online when you are at home.
Each station have its own unique tastes, my favorite channel is BBC Radio 1. There is a live webcam window, it's fun to see inside of radio station too sometimes. :)

I stitched kuma's pink scarf, not much progress but hope you like it. ;)

how to remove reset mac osx password (no install cd required )

This is FYI note for me so as not to forget,

My friend R forgot ID/PW to login mac OS X 10.3, She lost install CD as well, so here is the solution for her to reset the password.

Youtube : Access here

Summary :

1. Access to terminal
2. mount -uw /
3. rm /var/db/.AppleSetupDone
4. shutdown -h now
5. After OS shutdown, boot OS again
6. Create new user account/Password

Here is the other step she gave me, but it seems there is no sh /etc/rc available. You may look at the following directory first, and if there is no file, please try above steps.

1. Hold Apple+S when booting to enter single user mode
2. #sh /etc/rc
3. #passwd yourusername
4. #reboot

my kuma making progress

I've been working for my teddy bear cross stitch lately. I have a lot of free time in my life now, this is actually first time to take time off from work and everything and do nothing,,, it's fun but sometimes I get lost and I don't know what I want to do... so now I am looking for new hobbies like this stitch work which I've never tried before.

Kuma means "bear" in Japanese, I will track every progress.

I've already so much got used to use computer all the time for everything everyday, and it affects how I think things too, I just noticed when I made mistake during stitching, I suddenly think if I could use "ctrl+Z" to just undo what I just did, also it would be so much easier if I could just change the thread colours by using photoshop or something... so silly,,, haha.

Anyway, I hope my kuma turns to pretty. :D

Send computer to Japan from USA

I brought my office laptop when I came here last December for checking email on outlook and take care of issues etc, and I was wondering if I can send it back to Japan safely, since it has so many confidential information.

I used UPS International Parcel Shipping Order this time , Total cost was $428 including insurance,
I know it's pretty expensive but the service was great.
You can just bring your laptop and cable stuff to UPS store and they pack up for you and it was delivered in a week. Also you will get the tracking numbers which you are able to check current status on UPS website at anytime.

It might be a bit cheaper too, because I had to send windows phone with laptop as well.

昨年12月にこちらに来た際に、会社のラップトップをメールチェック用に持ってきていました。
日本に安全に送り返せるだろうかと心配していたのですが、ラップトップは沢山の秘密情報を含んでいますし。。。

UPS International Parcel Shipping Order

The Story of Linux: Commemorating 20 Years of the Linux Operating System

In honor of the 20th anniversary of the Linux Operating System, the nonprofit Linux Foundation has produced an infographic and video that reminds us how much of an impact the open source operating system has had on the world.

I would like to study about Linux one more time from the beginning. I used to struggle to even install to my old PC, but it was so much fun!

Blue Wasabi

We had a nice dinner at Japanese restaurant, Blue Wasabi Saturday night. As the name of the restaurant, the wasabi was served for us was BLUE! :) It tastes normal wasabi taste though.

I saw my favorite shochu, Hakkaisan at the restaurant, I want to drink!! but not right now. :D
